Taking a break. But first, manhole covers. Happy Labor Day Weekend...

Hello, everyone. I’m feeling a bit “under the weather” and have decided I need to take a short break this week. I will resume next week on Sept. 11 . . . Ah, yes. That date.

In the meantime, I’ll leave you with these images of manhole covers from the Old Town Monterey neighborhood where I live:

Here’s to the workers who toiled in the Ajax Foundry at 45 Clementina St. in San Francisco, and to workers who poured Christy concrete; and here’s to the workers typing in front of computer screens, fighting fires, serving up meals, taking care of patients, teaching students, toiling over a novel, minding the kids, and picking up the garbage. Here’s to all the workers, period.
