Briefly . . .
Issue #107: Etel Adnan, Pete Schulte (Focus), Flowers, Fog Chaser (Meditation), and Viewfinder
THEN AND NOW:
Recently I found the last post I had written in 2019 on what was then my art and writing blog on Wordpress. I wrote:
I’ve been musing about the small space that I work in, and the huge sizes of works that I see in museums and galleries. Looking at the smaller-sized works of artists like Etel Adnan [who passed away in 2021] and Pete Schulte, I realize there’s just no good reason for me to feel like I need to make larger works, and there’s every reason for me to make smaller, more intimate-sized drawings or paintings.
I was also looking for a sense of focus and quiet. Where did the time go? Now in 2023, the post had me reflecting on all that has happened since that year and on the fact that sometimes staying focused seems like the hardest thing to do.
As the title suggests, this issue of Eulipion Outpost is brief. I leave you with a few images from public gardens nearby, a meditation from Fog Chaser, and a twelve-minute preview of a mesmerizing video game that surprised me when the narrators briefly spoke in Filipino. There’s also a brief view of a nipa hut with banig mats such as those found in the Philippines.
I’ll be back next Saturday.
