This Week

“Viscosity“ (digital).

This week has tired me out, mentally and emotionally more than I would’ve predicted. I have a lot to think about (and do), little time to deal with it, and what I want to say hasn’t come together in time for this issue. So I’m rolling it up into a metaphorical ball, which I will unravel and write out for you next week, along with some new art.

But I’ll leave you with a couple things:

I think this article, “The History of Fetishizing Asian Women” by Celine Parrenas Shimizu, is worthwhile reading after the all the bullshit we’ve been getting from the press and the police about the murders of Soon Chung Park (74), Suncha Kim (69), Yong Ae Yue (63), Hyun Jung Grant (51), Xiaojie Tan (49), Delaina Yaun (33), Daoyou Feng (44), and Paul Andre Michels (54).

And some wise words from SciFi writer Octavia Butler on creativity and the power of our desires in Brainpickings.

I’ve got an appointment scheduled for my first Covid-19 vaccine next week, so that’s good. In the meantime, take care of yourself, get some rest; don’t spend too much time on social media. I will do the same…
