Typing on a typewriter is indeed hard. A heavy one spontaneously arrived in our kitchen one day, presumably from my mom's army boyfriend's place of work. It hurt to type (I was in my early teens), so I learned to use the back of a pencil. But I cherish the experience of it -- attempted writing my first books on it.
All this to add I really envy and enjoy all these letters. Thanks again, Jean!
Thanks, Lani. My first typewriter was an old Royal. I taught myself to type on it, starting when I was about nine, and my fingers were strong (from learning piano), so I continued until I was doing 80 wpm on that clunky gadget!
That’s so great you have your parents’ letters!
I love this post and even the mundane task of typing is so endearing. Thanks for sharing!
Salamat, Rachielle. . .

Hey I played the piano, too! And 80 wpm on an old school typewriter or not is super impressive!
