I can’t imagine losing all my letters from my dad! I gave digitized them and will make sure they are stored in the cloud as well.

I remember once watching a documentary either from National Geographic or the National Parks, and that’s the first time I heard of controlled burns, to simulate what nature would have done if the landscape has not been urbanized .
Thanks for your response! Wildfires, climate change, and carlessness are forcing me to confront the fact that my parents' letters can and will eventually go back to the earth. By scanning them, I can increase the chances that they will be around for family and historical archives---as long as the digital infrastructure exists to preserve them. Having a car can be helpful, but as I've seen in a number of urban disasters lately (LA, Lahaina, Valencia, southern Athens, etc.) they can also be a liability.
