Logistically Speaking . . .
#118: Artists Studio Tour (Day One), Fifth St. A Cappella, Imogen Heap (w/Zoë Keating), and Jacob Collier
HERE & NOW
This issue of Eulipion Outpost will be fairly brief (no Rabbit Hole).
Whew, I’m tired. The logistics of schlepping my art out (while carless) to an event that’s about 4.5 miles away, scheduling taxi pickup, figuring out bus stop locations, and walking hiking to them in extremely hilly1 Carmel-by-the-Sea, has been challenging. My wonderful partner, M., has been super helpful in this process.
The Monterey County Artists Studio Tour at Carl Cherry Center for the Arts has been fun, though. I’m enjoying sharing the space with a small group of talented, friendly artists. I’ve also been having thought-provoking discussions with some of the people stopping by to check out the art—many of them artists themselves. And it’s always interesting to get another person’s perspective on my own art. I realize there are many aspects of my work that I’ve come to take for granted. But when someone sees my art for the first time, and tells me about it, even if they don’t always “get it”—suddenly I see the piece anew, which stimulates ideas about where I can take my art from there. So I really appreciate the feedback.
It’s pleasant to take a break and walk in the Geraldine M. and Tom R. Houston Memorial Sculpture Garden, which sort of wraps around the Center for the Arts buildings.
It rained a little bit today, but flowers were still blooming in the sculpture garden. I hear that tomorrow should be sunny in Carmel.
ART
I sold one of my tiny artist books today (the one in the foreground of the table), and was glad to see it go to a good home. Some of my other art works are on the wall behind the table.

I will be at Carl Cherry for one more day, tomorrow (Sunday). I hope to see you there!
SOUNDINGS
It’s all about the harmony:
Fifth St. A Cappella (Imogen Heap cover):
Imogen Heap, backed up by Zoë Keating on cello. Check out Heap’s performance of “Hide & Seek” at about the half-way point of the video, where she uses her “magical gloves” to create harmony and other effects:
Amazing harmonizer, musician, and composer: “Jacob Collier: In the Room Where It Happens.” Alan Yentob interviews Collier for the BBC:
Thanks for visiting! Now I’m going to get some rest before my final day of the Artist Studio Tour (for many other artists, there will be more studio tours next weekend).

M. says that the hills in Carmel-by-the-Sea make the “hilly” Monterey Peninsula (where we live) look like Kansas.
