I feel like an old newbie, too, in that all of my kids are now away at college. It has completely changed the way I approach my writing; in many ways it feels like I'm starting all over again. And that's not a bad thing!

Thanks so much for your support of my chapbook, Jean. I appreciate it more than you know!

I love this post! It resonated a lot with me, and made me think of the timeless wisdom to “begin again”, as in meditation when we think we’re struggling we can just start again, or in life itself. The “newbie mindset” is such a great way to give ourselves permission to keep going.

I also enjoyed how you talked about this topics with gentleness and humor, (“ On the other hand, when you’re old, you have to deal with a peculiar type of stereotyping, people basically expecting you to keel over and die any moment” made me laugh out loud!). Excited to keep reading your work!

P.S. Thank you for the kind shoutout at the end, I was about to write this comment when I saw it. I’m glad that video resonated!
